Kersey, Jon

Jon Kersey is a freelance photographer based in Santa Cruz, CA. He got his start in a tra­ditional darkroom and still works there regularly. He was hooked after watching his first print come up in the developer. What Jon likes about photography is that photographs give him a way to show people how he sees things and gain access to people and places that otherwise might be closed to him. “Mood” and “Skater” are from his “Memories and Dreams” series. Made with inexpensive plastic cameras, these photos remind him of a dream or a hazy memory. He just completed “Photo a Day,” a yearlong project, and is cur­rently working on “Around Town,” in Santa Cruz.
