Coury, Daniel
Saturday, January 24th, 2009Daniel Coury believes that a work of art shows people what the artist has encountered. He finds banal objects, or do they find him? In nature, on the streets, at home… anywhere. He removes them from their utilitarian purpose and creates an aesthetic one. Using his “black and white language” in the studio, he matches the scene he saw in person. His goal is not to change the world, but allow the viewer to see beyond the trivial.
